STEP 1 - Measure Flow and Pressure

FLOW.

The most critical piece of information in the design and successful operation of your irrigation system is the flow. If you get this wrong and install too many heads on a zone your system may not work.

Your will need a bucket of known size and a stopwatch (smart phone)

  1. Test Flow at the tap you intend to use for the irrigation system. These may differ at different taps around your home.

  2. Ensure no other taps, washing machine or water outlets are open in the home.

  3. Turn the tap on full before putting the bucket under the tap.

  4. Put the bucket under the flow and start the timer at the same time.

  5. When the bucket is full sop the timer.

  6. Repeat this process at least one more time, preferably twice.

PRESSURE

While not as critical, knowing the pressure will assist with the design. We can provide a pressure gauge for this test.

Test Flow at the tap you intend to use for the irrigation system. These may differ at different taps around your home.

  1. Ensure no other taps, washing machine or water outlets are open in the home.

  2. Connect the gauge to the tap and open the pressure gauge valve.

  3. Turn the house tap on full.

  4. Slowly close the valve on the pressure gauge and watch the reading increase on the gauge.

  5. Record the pressure.

  6. Repeat this at least one more time, preferably twice
