step 5 - assembling the manifold

The manifold is where all your pipework runs back to, where you install the solenoid valves and connect to your controller. It looks complicated to assemble but with our help and the use of the correct components we can make it a lot simpler than you might think.

These are some key things to consider in assembling and connecting up your manifold:

  1. Make sure you leave plenty of length on the pipework for each zone.

  2. Consider where the manifold will go and how you will cover it with the box.

  3. Make sure you have all the correct components - it can be frustrating chasing a few missing pieces.

  4. From the tap to the inlet of the solenoid valves is under continual pressure. Only use seals with O-Rings, thread tape, or glued fittings. A failure here is a big problem

  5. Use solid PVC pipe from the tap to the manifold. Its stronger and looks neater.

  6. Always check the directing of the solenoid valves. There will be a direction of flow.

  7. Use pipe clamps on the 19mm pipe as they are stronger than racket clips, especially if there is any pipe hammer.
