step 6 and Step 7 - wiring up and THEN programming the controller

The controller is the brains of your automatic irrigation system. You don’t need to be an electrician to wire them up. If you want to operate your irrigation system from anywhere, choose a Hydrawise controller. If you have no wifi nearby or just want to operate the system at the controller choose the X2 Controller. Both will allow complete freedom to operate your entire system without you needing to be involved. Controllers can cope with different numbers of zones and come in outdoor and indoor models.

These are some of the key things to consider:

  1. The Controller needs to be close to a 240V power point

  2. One wire from each solenoid must be connected to the “common”. The other wire will connect to the terminal for each zone in the controller

  3. Use water proof terminals to connect all wires outside the controller..

  4. Label each cable to ensure you connect it to the correct terminal.

  5. The cables from the solenoids to the terminal box can be run over long distances and still operate.

  6. You must have good wifi coverage at the controller to use the Hydrawise unit.

  7. Run the cables in conduit from the manifold to the controller. It looks much neater and protects the cables.

  8. To program the Hydrawise controller, log into the Hunter website enter the serial number of your controller and follow the instructions
