step 7 - installing the lawn sprinkler heads

Once every things is connected you are now in a position to connect all the sprinkler heads for the lawn. Refer back to your design to remember which heads go where.

The key things to consider when connecting up the MP rotator heads for your system are:

  1. You will need to dig out where the heads are going to ensure they are at the level just above the soil and below where the mower will impact them.

  2. Using swing joints allows much easier adjustment and less pressure if using fixed joints.

  3. As the joints are low pressure you don’t need to use thread tape.

  4. Connect up the swing joint and sprinkler body without the MP Rotator head

  5. Once in place FLUSH the system without the MP Rotator screwed in.

  6. Once flushed, screw in all the MP Rotator heads.

  7. Use the MP Tool to adjust the arc and also the distance of flow.

NOTE: if the heads don’t rise when the solenoid valve is opened to a zone you may have too many heads on the one Zone. Unfortunately the only fix for this is to add a Zone at the manifold and run more pipe to reduce the heads on a Zone. This is why it is critical to get the flow measurement correct and to allow plenty of margin in the design.
